Different View on Homeless

My first post!! Yay! I hope I am doing this right. This week is Homeless Week. I chose to sit outside in a cardboard box for three hours while others stayed the entire night! It was a very insightful three hours. The woman that was in charge gave us a different view of what it is like to be homeless. We had to take five sheet's of paper and write down where we got our high school diploma, our favorite place in our home when we where younger, our best friend in ninth grade, first grade teacher, (and what we like about her), one thing that is very special to us. Then we had to rip the sheet's up one by one and throw it away. Then she explained to us how that is how a lot of homeless people feel. Because what some of us don't realize is a lot of these families or people that may be homeless now were just like us at one point in time. This experience made me think about it in a different way. Especially with Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner. With the things that we have talked about in Social Work this semester has turned my views around. I am so thankful for what I have.
